Outdoorsy Club – 5/10/25

May’s Outdoorsy Club: Wildflowers!

We are so excited to check out the beautiful wildflowers at Camassia Natural Area! Named after the Camas flower, the area has over 300 species of plants! Did you know the wildflowers in the PNW are so renown there’s even a website dedicated to tracking their blooms? Check out NW Wildflowers.

Please note that this is a protected area. From the website: “Stay on the trail. Don’t collect plants, insects, or other species or disturb soil, rocks, artifacts, or other scientific markers.” And please keep dogs at home.

When: Saturday, May 10th; 9am – 11am

Where: Camassia Natural Area, 5000 Walnut St., West Linn, OR 97068

Accessibility: The trail is a 0.6 mile, one-way loop. It is considered easy for folks without mobility issues, and considered very difficult for people using mobility devices (including strollers) due to the terrain. Trails are generally 2-3 feet wide, with some natural obstacles causing it to be closer to 1 foot wide. They are a mixture of boardwalks (2 feet wide, and elevated several inches above the ground), bare ground/gravel, and wood chips. There are wooden stairs with a railing. The typical trail grade is 0-5%, with a maximum of 12%. There is a port-a-potty only at the trailhead.

Transportation: Parking is very limited (only 6 spots at the trailhead), so as always— we encourage biking, public transportation, and carpooling! The closest bus stop is 0.9 miles away (23 minute walk) of the #35 (bus stop #7586). There is street parking in the neighborhood.

This Outdoorsy Club is open to anyone interested! You do not need to be a Member to join us!
