How we define veganism

Veganism is a way of living that avoids harming animals.

That means:

  • Avoiding eating foods made from animals (like meat, dairy, eggs, and honey)
  • Avoiding using other products that are made from animals (like clothing made with leather–that’s animals’ skin!) or tested on them (like some shampoos)
  • Avoiding supporting activities where animals are treated poorly (like zoos and circuses with animals)

Perhaps even more important than what we as vegans avoid, is what we provide to others and ourselves by living a life of kindness to all animals. We’re helping animals! We’re helping our Earth! Being vegan means you get to be proud that you’re living your beliefs every day.

Through building community and providing the opportunity for children to explore their values, Vegan Scouts empowers kids to be proud of their kindness and live an abundant life of joyful, thoughtful compassion.
